Hubert was founded just after World War II‚ in Cincinnati‚ Ohio‚ by George Hubert‚ Sr. At the time‚ Cincinnati was a major meat-processing center with most meat-related products sold through independent butcher shops. George decided to create a business to supply meat packing houses and retail butchers with the operating supplies they needed with a high degree of customer service. George began by making sales calls and then delivering the orders out of the trunk of his car. The formula worked and the company grew.
The corner butcher was eventually absorbed into the supermarket along with the baker and produce vendors and George now had other customers to talk with when he made his rounds. These customers had their own needs and the product line grew.
In 1990‚ the company moved to a brand new facility in Harrison‚ Ohio. By this time‚ Hubert had developed into a multi-channel business model selling visual merchandising and operational support products through a catalog. IN addition‚ there were a team of sales representatives servicing major customers.
The Hubert family sold the company to TAKKT AG in October of 2000. Takkt’s business premise is based on taking successful business models and rolling them out across the world. This began with a Hubert sales office in Markham‚ Canada in 2005. An office and distribution center was established in Pfungstat‚ Germany in 2008. A sales office was opened in Paris‚ France in 2009 and Zug‚ Switzerland in 2010 and Lisse‚ Netherlands in 2013.
Staying true to our Mission‚ Purpose and Values‚ Hubert has been able to successfully transition from a small family owned business to a multi-national company.
